Name of Assignment: Plan A Trip
Subject: Consumer Math
Facilitator/Teacher: Ms. Marsh
In Consumer Math, we planned and budgeted a spring break trip. Our theoretical break was from March 18th to March 22nd, and we had to travel off island on our trip. Axel and I planned a trip to L.A. We found flights, created a food budget, planned out each day and calculated our total trip expenses. We created a slideshow on our project and presented it to the class.
I really enjoyed this project. I’m proud of the amount of planning Axel and I put into the project. Our trip ended up costing $627 per person plus spending money. It was difficult to plan out what we wanted to do each day because our activities were all over the city. I do wish Axel and I had added pictures to the slideshow and practiced presenting it before we went up in front of the class.
Given that this project required us to make a budget, I’d say that the 21st Century Skills I used the most was my Financial, Economic, and Business Literacy Skills. We’ve been learning how to make a budget in Consumer Math class and this project allowed us to apply that knowledge. I hope to plan a real trip using this information.
