In this project, we were to create a newsletter about an animal that shows adaptive radiation. I wrote six paragraphs in first person about the Oreomystis mana honeycreeper. The newsletter also had to include a simple phylogenic tree of the honeycreeper and two photos. The photos were: one of the honeycreeper and one that represents adaptive radiation. I chose to use this work sample because I feel that it represents many of the concepts we learned in biology this quarter. The 21st century skill that this project best represents is: Global Awareness. This project allowed me to realize just how endangered honeycreepers and their habitats are. The honeycreeper project also shows that I'm able to conduct research, and portray a character while also including factual evidence. If I were to redo or continue this project, I would love to expand upon the subject, and do more research on the Oreomystis mana honeycreeper.
