In ENG 257 we created found poetry from Carmilla. Found poetry is similar to blackout poetry in that it takes words directly from the next. I chose a few pages from the text, and wrote down words that I wanted to include in my poem, then I rearranged them, put them in a Google Doc, and changed the appearance of the words to highlight the meanings and emotions of them. I ended up writing two found poems from two of what I felt were the most impactful scenes in the book.
I used my communication skills to communicate the emotions of the scene to the reader. The most difficult part of the poem was formatting because I wanted it to portray certain emotions and themes, but also didn't want the poem to be too busy. I have written poetry in the past, but writing found poetry is rather nice and a skill I will hopefully use in the future.
While I like writing poetry, it's difficult, and I am very proud of how this poem turned out. My Professor appreciated it as well. I wouldn't go back and do anything differently.
